Love Lingers: A Transhumanist Love Poem

Love Lingers: A Transhumanist Love Poem

There’s a love deep within my chest
I wanted nothing more than to express,
but the moment passed.
Like castles in the sand,
the fantasy washed away with the tide.

Yet, love lingers just out of reach—
haunting me.
You cannot claim naïve innocence
to your part in the narrative.
Let me love you or let me go.

Your voice dances in my head.
Your words garnish my lips.
Your blood floods my heart.
It’s too late for a vaccine.
Hit me with a dose of morphine.

I dream of futures created and burned
in an endless cycle of unsatisfied desires.
It’s all retch and no vomit.
I surrender, a white flag unfurls.
I have no more fight left in me.

I must let you go in love.
Autumn cannot last forever.
The last leaf has fallen,
and winter must come before spring.
Resurrect me in a time where love may be.
