I Felt Love

This morning I hiked to my happy place atop a quiet peak that overlooks a green valley.

I looked down to see life bustling below, per the usual. Everything appeared tiny. Tiny shops. Tiny schools. Tiny churches. Tiny cars. Tiny homes. Tiny people. From 3,000 feet up, even my problems awaiting my return seemed tiny.

I looked up at a large blue sky that reminds me of just how fleeting my existence in the cosmos is. In the meridian of time, my life is shorter than the bat of an eyelid. For being a simple human living on a tiny blue speck revolving around a sun which is only one in 200 billion suns in this galaxy, I still feel gratitude.

I feel meaning and purpose. Though I feel incredibly small, humble, and thankful, I also feel big, valuable, and worthy. For as short as my existence might be, I knew love. I felt love and it mattered—even if only for a brief moment in space and time.
