Love Wins

Dear queer Mormons,

I love you, and I believe God loves you too. Not only that, I believe God made us queer for a very specific reason. I believe God wants us to preach the gospel of love. Why? Because we know how to love. We know how to love in ways that defy convention. We know how to love when loving is difficult. We know how to love even in the face of persecution. I’ve seen the ways you love, and you inspire me.

The scriptures teach that there is nothing more important than loving God and loving your neighbor. Jesus taught the greatest commandment of all was thou shalt love. Disciples of Jesus Christ will be known by their ability to love one another.

God’s message is clear: love wins.

Our mantra is the same as God’s. I trust others will see that in time too. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but I trust that we can make love win. Wherever you go, keep loving, keep living, keep shining. Never for one second think that you are anything less than a valuable thought leader doing God’s work on earth. Love wins. Never forget it.
