Do Good Things

Today at Rexburg Pride, I was shocked and thrilled to see that BYU-Idaho had a booth set up with volunteers handing out free tacos.

As I walked through the line, I asked one of the volunteers how they convinced BYU-Idaho to approve a booth for Pride. I learned they were part of the Diversity and Inclusion Office at BYU-Idaho, and they were there to show their love to all God’s children. After chatting for a few minutes, my book came up.  The volunteer said, “I would love to read something like that! Where can I get a copy?”

I happened to have some copies of my book with me, so I gave him one and said, “Thanks for showing up and thanks for the tacos. The book is on me.”

His face lit up as he asked, “Will you please sign it to the whole Diversity and Inclusion team? I want to share it with the whole department.”

I happily signed the book and thanked him again for his willingness to learn more.

I don’t know what I was expecting when I got to Rexburg, but free tacos from BYU-Idaho employees at Pride was not one of them. I love it when Mormons do good things.
